Christmas Vacation

This season has been full of many surprises. The Hannah family has spent the past couple of weeks, preparing and on vacation. We left around the 3rd weekend for PA to spend the Christmas Holidays with Tammy's family. Since a couple of days before we left, Caleb has thrown us into a panic situation many times over.
We started out with a slight ear issue and after getting a clean bill of health for the little man, we were off to PA. A couple of days into our vacation, we tagged along with our neices and nephew "just to be on the safe side" to a Dr's appointment. Little did we know how familiar we would get with this office. Caleb was seen on Monday, before Christmas and was said to have a near ear infection. After being prescribed a new antibiotic, which threw us into massive diarehia attacks, we had a doosey of a time on Christmas Eve. An inconsoleable baby is not a fun thing to have as a house guest. Christmas Eve was filled with sleeplessness and alot of crying. After a bit of Ora-gel, we were able to get a couple of hours of sleep in before the Christmas festivities began. Christmas was a good day. However, the day following, started a whole new level of stress for 1st time parents.
The day after Christmas, Caleb was having a rough day and sleeping alot. Even when we tried to wake him, he was pushing the "limp noodle" envelope. We got him an appointment with the local Children's office(visit #2). After a little panicking and a phone call to his pediatrician, we were told we needed to go to the ER instead of waiting for our 4 PM appointment. Since the ER was booked solid for at least 3 hours due to the "After Christmas" crowd, we went to the Dr's office and waited to be seen, only to be sent to the hospital, due to dehydration, for fluids and IV antibiotics for bulging eardrums, by the resident Dr.
The diagnosed 24 hr observation seemed alot longer than that. Needless to say Tammy and I were extremely tired and scared. Caleb was given 2 bags of fluids and 2 bags of antibiotics.
As of today, we have had many fevers which we were told were a normal process to having inflamed eardrums. We were also told to not be surprised if we experience a busted eardrum as well.
Dr Visit #3 (We are now becoming very familiar with this office.) The Dr prescribed a 3rd dose of antibiotics. Much to Caleb's shagrin, the dose was administered via injection. We were told if this does doesn't take, we will need to take Caleb to Texas Children's Hospital for a "draining" I can't tell you what that would involve, but it doesn't sound pleasurable for parents or baby. Please join us in praying for a full recovery. We have a Dr's appt on Friday @ 10:30 to find out if the ears have improved. Either way, the flight home could be a rough one with infected ears.
Please also pray we have a safe and uneventful flight home on Saturday. And check back for an update soon.

Merry Chrsitmas

This week the Hannah family is spending the holidays with our extended family in Pennsylvania. There have been ups and downs throughout the week. One of the best things about the vacation has been spending time with our nieces, nephews and meeting their friends. Here is a picture of Cole, Hannah, Paige, and their friend, Ashley.

Family traditions...

Around this time of year, things get a little more cheery. I have a tendency to get a little spring in my step. Ok, lets face it, I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!! And what could make this season better than sharing and beginning traditions with your new family?!
Caleb had a very special day today. Today he turned 10 months old, AND got to meet jolly ol' St. Nick. Tammy and I braved 2 hours worth of crying babies, ticked off parents, and a mall that someone never told a recession was on the horizon. Whoever is making the predictions about it being a down year in retail, obviously didn't come to Willowbrook. Family after family picked their jaws up off the floor when receiving the answer to their question, "Is this the end of the line?" Only to be pointed in the direction of the rear, about 200 feet behind us. By the way, we had been in that line for about an hour already. You would hvae thought these were 50 yard line tickets to the Superbowl the way people were defending their position. Let just say Rudolph wasn't the only one with a shiny red nose in this line.
Anyway, where was I? Oh yes, this was a long line. So after we arrived at the much charished position of "next" I got out my trusty Nikon and prepared for a shot of a lifetime. Yes we did purchase the "mall picture" but I also got one that could be just as good. You be the judge.

Also, this week, we've had a few Christmas themed shows on such as Frosty, and Rudolph. Tammy and I were in the kitchen getting things tidied up and came in to see this.

Is this a "Busted" face or what?!

Lastly, Caleb has been performing for his many audiences and showing what a "Big Boy" he is.

"Walk this way...Talk this way!!!"

This was one of Caleb's biggest weeks to date in his short life. Over the past 7 days, I have been working a HUGE job and have had to work from 10-15 hours a day. Over this time, I have missed Tammy and Caleb terribly, not only because I love them but because I don't want to miss any milestones in Caleb's life. Of course it had to happen, Friday night, when I was working a very late night, Tammy calls me to tell me about how Caleb has taken his first little "shuffle" step. And then while on the phone, he takes another. (sigh) I can't believe how fast hes growing up.

Tonight, (Monday) Tammy and I are sitting at the dinner table while Caleb is having his dinner. I was telling Tammy how, while Caleb and I were driving to Tia's, I could have sworn he said Da-da. I never expected to hear him say it again so soon. Tammy and I were talking, and Caleb looks at me, smiles and says with much determination, "Da-Da." I was so proud. Caleb's first actual word was directed at me. While Tammy and I were boasting about our boy's accomplishment, he locks eyes with Rylee, our dog, and says, "Da-Da." Oh well, its progress anyway. Right?

Caleb walks Part 2

So I guess there have been requests for more videos of Caleb walking and I apologise but what you saw is all we have...until today. Today, we took Caleb into his room and were able to get a couple of good minutes of video while he proudly took a cruise around the room. This video will actually give you guys a sneak peek into the Hannah home, or at least one room of it. From the way it looks, we soon should have someone to mow the grass and won't have to pay for it. I give it a couple of months.
By the way, he's fine. (You'll understand after you watch the video.)

Caleb has really grown since we moved to the house. It seems like every day brings a new milestone in his young life. We found a walker scooter at Target today. Take a look.

Caleb visits the Pumpkin Patch

So I felt really bad about the cat video with no updates on the Caleb/Hannah front. I know everyone is waiting ever so patiently for pictures of our new home. We are very close to being able to show room for room.
Meanwhile, here are a few pictures of the trip we took this weekend to a local Pumpkin Patch.

There is also a TON of pictures on our Kodak gallery website. Please enjoy Caleb and the Pumpkin Patch.

Fellow cat owners...

Ever wonder why things have a funny after-taste from time to time? (this has nothing to do with us...just thought it was a funny video)

Note to non-cat owners: Cats use litter boxes and cover stuff up with their paws. Oh yeah, they also walk all over the same litter they just "used" with their paws. This is why we got rid of our cats!!! But I have to admit, this one sure is cute.

Caleb absolutely loves Ms. Cullen and her songs

Ms. Cullen is loved by kids everywhere. Just hit You Tube, type "Cullen's ABC's" into the search box, and you can see a ton if not more songs and lessons by this lady. She is even loved by our very own Caleb. There is nothing he loves more (at least not right now)than when she does the Dinosaur Hokie Pokie. Take a look.

And trust me when I tell you. You do not want to come between Ms. Cullen and Caleb. What ever you do, DO NOT...I repeat...DO NOT waste a second in starting the DVD over after the last song plays. You will definitely hear about it!

Lots and Lots of Happenings...

Wow...where do I start? I guess with the best news. The Hannah's have a roof of our very own...oh and a floor and many walls, and a front door, and a garage, etc. (You get the idea)
Its been a super busy week with the closing of our home, the move last weekend, illnesses for the entire family, and unpacking the lives we've had in storage for the past 4 months.
BUT, we are finally in our home. I have to be honest, there is nothing like walking around the floor and knowing your not going to disturb the neighbor if you "clomp" your feet. Awesome.
Caleb is a bit under the weather right now after running a slight fever mid-week. We are in the middle of trying to get rid of a bad rash for him as well, that seemed to start around the hurricane.
Tammy has had some stomach issues and what seems to be a cold going on. And thanks to Ike, I have had one of the worst sinus attacks I think I've ever had. All the trees and debris being cleaned up since the storm, at least in this area, are getting dumped in a temporary site, less than a mile from our new home. We can't see it, but my "achoo" tells me its there.
Thats all for now. Check back in a few days for some new pictures of our little guy and our new home. I need to go blow my nose.

Caleb The Alarm Clock

Our little bundle of joy and happiness has found a new talent. This week he has not only learned how to pull himself up on the crib, but also how to wake up Mommy and Daddy just before the alarm. For the last 3 mornings, we have been greeted minutes before the alarm goes off at 5 AM by our very own "Caleb Alarm Clock" (patent pending).

Finally...

Yet another milestone in our little Caleb's life. During the hurricane/ no power time, Caleb got ALOT of time to learn new things. Luckily for us, we had the video camera running during his attempts...twice!

The first time Caleb crawled was on his Mommy's birthday, Sept. 17th
Happy Birthday Mommy.

(Hurricane + No power) (boredom) = Experimental photography

Anyone for a little Algebra?
The only thing I love about a hurricane (thats right...the ONLY thing)would be the awesome sky just before the bottom drops out.

Unfortunately since Ike hit at 2 AM, I was unable to get any pictures of it all. However, once the power went out, I had the chance to do a little experimental photography on my favorite subject.

He had such a great time posing for these shots.

And of course the one responsible for the photos as well as the subject, well at least 1/2 of him (Sorry, I know, TMI)

You'd be surprised how creative you can get when your 7 month old is screaming because hes tired and its too hot to sleep while, thanks to IKE, the power is out. It looks as though the fan is off but, thankfully, it was working with a 12 volt battery, a power inverter, and a little ingenuity on my part. Yes I am boasting a bit.

And of course, Caleb was sporting his fashion of choice while the temperature was in the mid 90's on Saturday after the storm. (Thank you God for the cold front that swept through a day early bringing us highs in the low 80's and evening temps in the low 60's)

The rest of these pictures are of courtesy of Uncle Chris, Aunt Heather, and cousins, Paige, Hannah, and Cole. Thank you all so much for the 3 outfits marking Caleb's 1st Halloween. He really loves them...especially the ones that glow.

WE HAVE POWER!!!!

For the first time in 4 days, we have power. Approximately, 2 AM Saturday Morning we lost power during Hurricane Ike. Thankfully, the loss of power and a small section of fence were the only things lost to Ike. On the new home, another small section of fence and our cute little trees in the front were blown over. Everything else did rather well, considering all the damage we have seen over the past few days. Also, about 24 hours after the hurricane passed, we had a cool front blow through and the temps have been in the low 70's during the day and the low 60's at night. What a huge blessing!!! For those of you who know me, you know I can't sleep without AC or a fan, so God sent his version of AC. Awesome!!! Check back later for more pictures. Since we didn't have anything else to do, we took lots of pictures of Caleb in all his diapered glory!!!

SuperBaby vs Hurricane Ike

As many of you know, Tammy and I were scheduled to get our introduction to our new home. Then along comes Ike to wreck those plans. Thankfully, we have something, or should I say someone to keep us pre-occupied and not worried about the storm. During a Wal-Mart run for those last minute hurricane supplies, I happened to pass the Halloween aisle. Now you tell me...could you pass this one up?!

Almost finished...

We got the news today. We will be going for our introduction to our new home officially on Friday, Sept. 12th @ 3 PM. This is the first step to closing on the home. During this walk-thru, its my understanding, we will be looking for blemishes, scuff-marks, generally any flaws or things we would like repaired.
Today, while visiting the house, I got a couple of pictures of the outside. Hope you enjoy. More pictures of the interior are coming soon.

Baby Baptism

Caleb had his Dedication/Baptism today. He was a wonderful little boy. Not one tear when Pastor Ken held him in front of the congregation.
Thank you to Tia (Aunt Sharon), Uncle Jim, Aunt Sue, Uncle Ron, Laurie, and James for joining us.

Will work for Buh-buhs

Its been a long summer to say the least. Over the past two months, we've been living with relatives while we wait for a place to live. We've really had to stick to a close budget. Tammy and I have even had to cut back on our meal portions. Extreme times call for extreme meaures.

On a serious note, the Hannah's are two weeks away from closing on our new home. And as for cutting back on meal portions, we've been on Weight Watchers now for the past 6 weeks. Hehehe.

The house is actually further along than this picture. Come back tomorrow for updated pictures of the house and to see what outfit Caleb wears to his Dedication.

The Battle has been lost!!!

Ever since we first found out we were gonna have a baby, I made it a point to raise this baby in an "Elmo-Free" home. Over the past 10 years, this little red "Grover-wanna-be" has taken over the Sesame Street we, the children of the 70's, and 80's grew up with. *sigh* After doing some work at a Toys R Us, I noticed the newest toy coming out next month. ELMO Live. So of course after the past 10 years and the popularity of the "Tickle me" series of Elmo dolls, and seeing Caleb's face light up while watching Sesame Street one morning, I knew the Battle to keep an "Elmo Free" existance had been lost. By the way, don't tell him, but his Mommy and Daddy have already reserved the "Elmo Live" for Christmas. How can you deprive this precious little bundle of joy?!

Trick or treat...Lets go for a ride.

Today was a good day for Caleb. Today he got to see his Halloween outfit Mommy picked out for him while he was still "in the oven".

Also, since he was just a little guy we have had a stroller, that his Mimi and Poppie got for him. But he was just too little to go for a ride. Well, today after "trying it on for size" we went for our first of many rides around the block. Now if he could only reach the steering wheel while in the seat.

This one is our favorite! Look at that smile!

Another day, another outfit.

After trying on the outfit for Caleb's dedication, we found out the neck of the outfit was too small...not to mention the cuffs didn't button. What can I say, the boy is getting big. Tammy and I made our way to Burlington Coat Factory for a bigger size. Unfortunately, there was no larger size. So after coming home with two more choices, we finally made a decision. But no decision was made until he tried on both outfits. Let us know what you think, and we'll show you which outfit made the cut next weekend.
