Christmas Vacation

This season has been full of many surprises. The Hannah family has spent the past couple of weeks, preparing and on vacation. We left around the 3rd weekend for PA to spend the Christmas Holidays with Tammy's family. Since a couple of days before we left, Caleb has thrown us into a panic situation many times over.
We started out with a slight ear issue and after getting a clean bill of health for the little man, we were off to PA. A couple of days into our vacation, we tagged along with our neices and nephew "just to be on the safe side" to a Dr's appointment. Little did we know how familiar we would get with this office. Caleb was seen on Monday, before Christmas and was said to have a near ear infection. After being prescribed a new antibiotic, which threw us into massive diarehia attacks, we had a doosey of a time on Christmas Eve. An inconsoleable baby is not a fun thing to have as a house guest. Christmas Eve was filled with sleeplessness and alot of crying. After a bit of Ora-gel, we were able to get a couple of hours of sleep in before the Christmas festivities began. Christmas was a good day. However, the day following, started a whole new level of stress for 1st time parents.
The day after Christmas, Caleb was having a rough day and sleeping alot. Even when we tried to wake him, he was pushing the "limp noodle" envelope. We got him an appointment with the local Children's office(visit #2). After a little panicking and a phone call to his pediatrician, we were told we needed to go to the ER instead of waiting for our 4 PM appointment. Since the ER was booked solid for at least 3 hours due to the "After Christmas" crowd, we went to the Dr's office and waited to be seen, only to be sent to the hospital, due to dehydration, for fluids and IV antibiotics for bulging eardrums, by the resident Dr.
The diagnosed 24 hr observation seemed alot longer than that. Needless to say Tammy and I were extremely tired and scared. Caleb was given 2 bags of fluids and 2 bags of antibiotics.
As of today, we have had many fevers which we were told were a normal process to having inflamed eardrums. We were also told to not be surprised if we experience a busted eardrum as well.
Dr Visit #3 (We are now becoming very familiar with this office.) The Dr prescribed a 3rd dose of antibiotics. Much to Caleb's shagrin, the dose was administered via injection. We were told if this does doesn't take, we will need to take Caleb to Texas Children's Hospital for a "draining" I can't tell you what that would involve, but it doesn't sound pleasurable for parents or baby. Please join us in praying for a full recovery. We have a Dr's appt on Friday @ 10:30 to find out if the ears have improved. Either way, the flight home could be a rough one with infected ears.
Please also pray we have a safe and uneventful flight home on Saturday. And check back for an update soon.

Merry Chrsitmas

This week the Hannah family is spending the holidays with our extended family in Pennsylvania. There have been ups and downs throughout the week. One of the best things about the vacation has been spending time with our nieces, nephews and meeting their friends. Here is a picture of Cole, Hannah, Paige, and their friend, Ashley.

Family traditions...

Around this time of year, things get a little more cheery. I have a tendency to get a little spring in my step. Ok, lets face it, I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!! And what could make this season better than sharing and beginning traditions with your new family?!
Caleb had a very special day today. Today he turned 10 months old, AND got to meet jolly ol' St. Nick. Tammy and I braved 2 hours worth of crying babies, ticked off parents, and a mall that someone never told a recession was on the horizon. Whoever is making the predictions about it being a down year in retail, obviously didn't come to Willowbrook. Family after family picked their jaws up off the floor when receiving the answer to their question, "Is this the end of the line?" Only to be pointed in the direction of the rear, about 200 feet behind us. By the way, we had been in that line for about an hour already. You would hvae thought these were 50 yard line tickets to the Superbowl the way people were defending their position. Let just say Rudolph wasn't the only one with a shiny red nose in this line.
Anyway, where was I? Oh yes, this was a long line. So after we arrived at the much charished position of "next" I got out my trusty Nikon and prepared for a shot of a lifetime. Yes we did purchase the "mall picture" but I also got one that could be just as good. You be the judge.

Also, this week, we've had a few Christmas themed shows on such as Frosty, and Rudolph. Tammy and I were in the kitchen getting things tidied up and came in to see this.

Is this a "Busted" face or what?!

Lastly, Caleb has been performing for his many audiences and showing what a "Big Boy" he is.
