May's Featured Photo of the month

Ever since January 1st, I have submitted a few photos to the Armstrong County Project 365. Tammy grew up in Armstrong County just outside of Pittsburgh, PA. Over the last few years, to say I've taken a few pictures in the Allegheny Mts. is an understatement. To date, five of my photos have been a daily installment. But as of June 1st, my Railroad Bridge photo became the featured photo of the month of May. Please check back often to see (hopefully) more of my pictures grace the website of the Armstrong County Project 365.

Happy 5th Anniversary

Only 7 more days until my sweet wife and I celebrate our 5th Wedding Anniversary. We spent a weekend in our favorite vacation spot, the San Antonio Riverwalk. (other than being with our Pa. and Alabama families that is.) We will actually be spending our anniversary in the air on our way to PA.

One of the most incredibly moving sites in San Antonio has to be the Alamo. The respect shown is something to behold. There is no photography or filming inside and everyone is forced to remove their hats at the door.

Having a little fun with Photoshop. (Only the water was enhanced)

Another fascinating feature of the Riverwalk is the amount of fountains and waterfalls that can be found all over. They actually have a dual purpose. They are very pretty and is a great way to get rid of AC water run-off from all the large hotels that line the Riverwalk.

Tammy and I had a wonderful dinner at the world famous Charter House located at the top of the revolving Tower of the Americas. In 1968, this tower was established as the centerpoint to the San Antonio World's Fair. It makes one rotation every hour and has excellent food.

This picture was taken at our favorite breakfast and nightly margarita spot, "Rita's on the River" Yes you read correctly, they serve breakfast in the AM and is known for its killer margaritas at night.

Another AC run-off (hehe)

Blue Herons can be seen all over the Riverwalk, but nothing is as frightening that taking the Riverboat tour and taking notice of several of these beautys nesting in the trees overhead. It really makes you wish you had remembered your umbrella.

Mallards also can be found all over the Riverwalk. Each morning, Tammy and I would go to Rita's and I would quickly be repremanded for giving up my toast. One morning we counted 16 ducklings following Mommy Duck close behind.
