Week 38 Update: T-minus 12 days and counting...

Today's appointment went well. My blood pressure was 138/87. According to the Dr, most bp's are better in the AM. The remainder of my appt's are scheduled in the morning, beginning next Tuesday @ 9:30. They did not measure Caleb today, however they checked the fluid and the umbilical cord. There is 21cm of fluid. The doctor said that was excellent. They don't get concerned unless the amniotic fluid is under 5 cm. The blood flow on the umbilical cord was also good. The word from my Dr is everything looks similar next week, he will let me go to week 40. Steve can't wait for Caleb to arrive. Personally, I am still not ready for labor, so I am OK if he waits another 2 weeks.

What ever you do...

Don't tell Tammy its week 38!!! (hehe) I'm super excited and even dreaming about our little boy making his way into this world of ours. Only 1 more week til the Dr checks to see if he can induce. Oh please, oh please, oh please!!! This week's menu: Spicy Chili, Pepper Steak, and Mexican Lasagna!!! Yes thats right, we're gonna put the "old wive's tales" to the test. How many bowls of chili will it take? I'll let you know next week.
I did manage to talk Tam into letting me take a few pictures, but of course there had to be an agreement on my end.

PS: YMCA, I'll see you very soon. (Apparently, "sympathy weight" is TRUE!)

Week 37

Update: I had my 37 week appointment today. Caleb weighed in at an estimated 7.2 lbs. My doctor thinks he will be around 8.5 lbs when we deliver. Caleb has not dropped and I am not dilated. The doctor said it is still OK, as we are technically 3 weeks from my due date today. We asked if he still plans to induce at 39 weeks. He said it really depends on the baby. The doctor said if he does not drop and I don't dilate, the induction won't work. My blood pressure was up 140/91 at the initial check. After the retake, I was down to a normal 122/70 something. The doctor said that fatigue could play a part. I was up 7 times last night!! I feel bad that Steve heard me most of those times. While I can nap during the day, he has to work and cannot. I really had not slept well since this weekend. I don't know if I am getting too much rest during the day and my body clock is off, or if I am just getting stuck when I am rolling over at night and waking up. I start on my left side and when I wake up, I am stuck on my back leaning towards the right side.

They had to use a buzzer on Caleb today during the NST (non stress test). I think I kept him up too much at night and he was sleeping too. Once he heard that buzzer, he jumped awake!

Week 36 Update

Today's doctor's appointment went much better than last week's. My blood pressure was 133/88. My weight stayed the same! My doctor was very happy. He said rest agrees with me. Caleb is estimated to weigh 6lbs 4oz as of today. The doctor still plans to induce me at 39 weeks for a normal delivery. With much rest and prayer, I hope to see the same or lower blood pressure next week. My next Dr appt will be on 1/22/08.

We are also praying for good results for Steve's procedure tomorrow. He has spent the day with the dreaded prep work.

Too much time on our hands...

You know you have too much time on your hands when you put together the stuff received from your "Baby Shower" and use a teddy bear as a model. A very special "Thank you" to Patches McHugglesworth for his patience while modeling.
The afghan Patches is wearing was made by Tammy's Mom. Official Thank You notes will be in the mail shortly. We also wanted to take a moment to say thank you now. We have greatly appreciated everyone's generosity.

Week 35 Update...Happy Valentine's Day?

Week 35 brought higher blood pressure and unexpected news from the doctor that I had to go on bed rest. Baby Caleb's vitals were all OK. My doctor is looking out for us. Most of you know I have been quite a workaholic. What a big change for me to be at home resting. I must say, I surprised myself when I am actually looking forward to resting. I now know I can nap during the day when I don't sleep well after getting up 3-4 times a night for the restroom. With Steve's mega DVD collection, I should not have any shortage of entertainment. I plan to read up on recipes, read some books and crochet. I go to the doctor again on Wednesday. At that visit they will again measure Caleb to see how big he is. I wonder how much he has grown in 2 weeks. The ultrasound tech gave us a picture of his hair Thursday. I got emotional after seeing that. Both Steve and I are really getting excited to meet our son in person.

My thoughtful husband has planned for us to celebrate Valentine's Day a month early on 1/14/08. He said I would either be in the hospital delivering a baby or we would have the baby at home by that time so we will have a nice dinner early.

Week 34

Big happenings today in the Pre-Caleb Hannah household. First off, Tammy had what has now become a weekly visit to the "Baby Dr" The report couldn't have gone better. Besides only spending an hour or so at the Dr's office (last time we were there for 3 hours) we got our first of 4 or so, Ultrasounds to get measurements of the fluid around the baby, his weight, and a pretty good picture of those signature chubby cheeks the Hannah's are so well known for. According to the measurements taken, our baby boy is tipping the scales at a whopping 5 lbs. 6 oz. (49th percentile) An attempt was made to get a last shot of the ellusive Caleb Mackenzie for the 4D project hes been dodging for the past 4-6 weeks. Unfortunately, we were unsuccessful at capturing that one in a million photo of the "shy guy" Thats ok. I'm sure when hes born, there will be no shortage of pictures featuring his "mug" Lastly, and most shocking, our Dr informed us, that since Tammy's blood pressure has been borderline for Hypertension, he might induce at 39 weeks as opposed to closer to her due date of Feb 12th. A week earlier than expected. We are a little "freaked out" but very excited to see Caleb, first hand.
